Building a winning culture isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.

Several years ago I started to see my role as a leader differently. I still manage, guide, instruct, coach, and all the other things leaders have to do with their teams. Only now I do it through a different lens, the lens of anthropology.

To be clear, I’m not an actual anthropologist. It’s more of a change in mindset than an academic pursuit.

Every company and team has a unique culture made up of different experiences, ideologies, systems, etc. Most of the time these cultures simply evolve over time as people leave and new ones arrive. We’ve all been a part of these cultures and sometimes they are great and sometimes… they are not so great.

The greatest and most enduring cultures don’t simply happen though. They are intentionally shaped and protected. They certainly evolve and change over time, but not at a whim.

As a leader it’s become my life’s pursuit to study and help shape amazing and successful remote company cultures. I’m doing it in my own businesses and if you’re reading this I’d love to help you with yours.

Official Bio

James Laws is an expert in creating a healthy and invigorating organizational culture. He has spent more than two decades trying to understand not just how organizations operate, but, more importantly, why they operate the way that they do. This focus on the why rather than simply the how is what sets him apart from other business leaders and content creators.

James’s experience includes leading nonprofits, religious organizations, and multi-million dollar businesses. All of this experience has led him to the conclusion that many organizational issues aren’t caused by problem individuals, but rather unaligned organizational culture. James’s mission is to help every organization understand that its culture is paramount to its success.

James lives in southeastern Tennessee with his wife, son, and two cats.
